Telus has announced the launch of the Telus Network Experience (TNE) application – a free and easy-to-use mobile app, which gives customers the opportunity to provide real time, on-the-go feedback about wireless service on the Telus 4G wireless network, which includes 4G HSPA+, 4G DC-HSPA+ and 4G LTE. Telus will use customer feedback and submitted Reports to make network enhancements and to influence its future network build. Rainmaker Entertainment Inc. has announced that further to its press release dated January 7th 2013, the company has filed and obtained a receipt for a preliminary prospectus in respect of a proposed rights offering of unsecured convertible debentures (“Debentures”) for aggregate gross proceeds of up to $5,828,392 (the “Rights Offering”). Concurrent with the Rights Offering, Rainmaker has also agreed to issue an additional $300,000 principal amount of Debentures on a private placement basis (the “Private Placement”). The Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) has announced a significant Government of Canada investment that will support 24 innovation projects in the Greater Toronto Area. Key highlights for the year ended 2012 include $1.5 billion of new venture capital investment and $1.8 of new capital formation for domestic venture capital funds. These were among the findings of a statistical report released today by CVCA – Canada’s Venture Capital & Private Equity Association and research partner Thomson Reuters. Investment activity in Canada’s venture capital (VC) market in 2012 reached $1.5 billion which was invested via 395 rounds into companies in Canada’s innovation and emerging growth sectors. DHX Media Ltd. has signed a major new VOD “Video On Demand” deal with Midwest Tape-owned digital platform HOOPLA. This three year deal marks the first time DHX has sold to HOOPLA and underscores the company’s aim of exploiting digital opportunities for its library of programming on emerging platforms. The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) applauds the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of National Revenue, for her latest effort to reduce the impact of the “taxman” on Canada’s small businesses. Earlier this morning, Minister Shea held a joint roundtable with CFIB in Toronto to hear from small business owners on what the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is doing right and wrong. CFIB’s recent report card on the CRA’s Call Centre Business Helpline, released during Canada’s annual Red Tape Awareness WeekTM in January, gave the agency a C- on its performance.
